CESI Group, through its company Ismes, a leader in infrastructural engineering, has recently developed an innovative monitoring system for the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral in Florence. With decades of expertise in cultural heritage protection, Ismes initiated this project following a feasibility study aimed at a new monitoring design. The focus is on assessing the structure of the Baptistery, with particular attention to the foundations and sub-surface soil of the entire Piazza del Duomo area.

Since its inception in the 1950s with the Mole Antonelliana in Turin, Ismes has established a strong reputation for its work on significant Italian and international sites. The company has extended its expertise to several landmark projects, including the San Marco Basilica and Santo Stefano bell tower in Venice, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Cenacolo Vinciano in Milan, the Metropolitan Cathedral in Mexico City, the Chapel of the Shroud in Turin, the Sisto Bridge in Rome, and the Tower of Ravenna.

The intervention in Florence highlights Ismes’ ongoing commitment to preserving and protecting historical monuments. By integrating advanced technological solutions, Ismes ensures the safety and conservation of cultural heritage for future generations. www.ismes.it
