Technical assistance for Advanced Electricity Metering project in Uzbekistan

Full technical assistance throughout the implementation of an advanced electricity metering project in Uzbekistan with 1.2 million meters installed.

CESI was selected by Uzbekenergo as technical advisor for a smart meter installation project in Uzbekistan. The project, financed by the Asian Development Bank, required the installation of an initial 1 million smart meters in households and industrial clients in three regions, followed by further projects financed by ADB, the World Bank and the Islamic Bank of Development for a total of 4 million meters installed.

The project will significantly reduce losses on the grid and cut operating costs for the distribution company.

CESI carried out the following activities:

• Assistance in drafting project documents
• Development of a strategy for loss reduction
• Support during all tendering stages
• Supervision of meter installations
